Ice & Silence
Days on the water waiting for the weather to break. It never did — and that turned out to be the whole story. Glaciers photographed the way they actually feel: cold, enormous, indifferent.
TCreations — Nature & Wildlife Photography
I'm Tirthankar Chakraborty. I photograph glaciers, coastlines and creatures that most people only ever read about — and bring them home as prints you can live with.
About the photographer
What began as one cold morning with a borrowed camera turned into a decade of walking toward weather instead of away from it — fjords at first light, storms rolling over ice fields, a bull elk that decided I wasn't worth standing up for.
Every frame here was made in the field. No composites, no borrowed skies. I shoot slow, print large, and care more about how a place felt than how many pixels it took. If that's the kind of work you're after, we'll get along well.
Selected series
Days on the water waiting for the weather to break. It never did — and that turned out to be the whole story. Glaciers photographed the way they actually feel: cold, enormous, indifferent.
Long lenses, longer patience. Portraits of animals on their own terms — antlers, breath and weather — made from a distance that let them stay exactly as they were.
Harbours, ruins and roadside meadows caught in the twenty minutes a day when the light does all the work. The warm counterweight to the ice.

What I do
Museum grade paper, hand checked, signed and numbered. Sizes from a desk frame to a wall that stops conversation.
Images for magazines, books, campaigns and conservation work — licensed clearly, delivered fast, no surprises.
Come along, or send me somewhere. Multi day coverage of remote places, wildlife and the people who work there.
One to one field teaching. Composition, light, patience and post — the parts of this craft nobody puts in a manual.
Kind words
He came back with the picture we needed and four we didn't know we wanted. The glacier series ran across a full spread and the phone hasn't stopped.
We hung three of his prints in the lobby. Guests photograph the photographs. That tells you everything about the quality of the work.
Two weeks in the field, brutal weather, not one complaint. Tirthankar reads light the way other people read a road sign.
Commissions, prints and licensing enquiries are open for the season.
